“Victory in Jesus Christ may seem easy enough to claim when you are listening to a good sermon at church or when you are having a meaningful quiet time at home.  But, how about when you are on the job, in a family conflict, or in a personal struggle?  How do you experience victory in the heat of daily circumstances?” MasterLife, Disciple’s Personality

Jesus Christ when he was in the garden of Gethsemane told his disciples, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.  The spirit is willing, but the body is weak” Mathew 26:41.  The Lord knew that they would need more than willing spirits to withstand the temptations ahead of them.  He knew that they needed to be alert in the spirit and fortified with prayer. Temptation will always occur…such as evil thoughts and desires that may pass through one’s mind. However, through prayer… one is empowered with spiritual strength to resist temptation.

Now, when a Christian ‘window-shops’ at an outlet for sin; the devil comes to the door and invites one in.  To which one may respond, “Oh, no, just looking.” Yet this person’s openness to temptation often leads to sin.  While temptation itself is not sin; when one dwells on bad thoughts, letting the mind entertain the idea…is sin.  What are you allowing your mind to dwell on…anger, bitterness, pride, etc.?  As one flees the evil thoughts and desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace; then on numerous accounts the body of Christ will testify that indeed ‘NO temptation is too strong to withstand; for every temptation God gives a way of escape’.
