Think about the way you feel when you go for a while without seeing or talking to someone you love such as a parent, child, spouse or a friend.  You long to connect with that person…hungering for a sweet time fellowship with them.   And that is the way it should be for a child of God relating with a Heavenly Father.

However, unlike the ease in connection we enjoy in our personal relationships; the relationship with God takes work and deep commitment.  One brother confessed “I feel guilty when I have trouble staying consistent with my quiet time.  I thought if I loved God, it should come easy.” And I believe this is a situation many relate with as one purposes to remain in fellowship with God.

…Just as a branch cannot remain alive when disconnected from a vine; nor can a Christian remain alive and vibrant in Christ when disconnected from God’s word John 15.   The Lord Jesus taught that we have to remain in Him and in his word and this takes deep commitment.  This commitment leads to saturating one’s mind with God’s Word leading to growth and maturity in faith even as one upholds the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayerfully, ask God to lead you as you read and live his Word.

“If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.” John 15:10
