“In Revelation, Jesus says, “Blessed is the one who stays awake and remain clothed so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed ”Revelation 16:15. The Lord’s word cautions us that Jesus Christ will come so suddenly …without warning. No one knows the day or hour of Christ’s return, except the Father. Jesus promises blessing for those who are ‘awake’ and appropriately attired in Him. Are you ready for Jesus’s return?
Clothing in scripture often represents character and God’s gift of transformed life. Those who trust Christ as Savior are not only forgiven of their sin, they are covered or clothed in His righteousness and declared righteous by God. First and foremost, to be ready for Jesus’s return means to repent of sin and believe in Jesus Christ for salvation.
John in the Revelation looked forward to the Lord’s coming and said, “ And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming”1 John 2:28. And he added, “All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure” 1 John 3:3.”
When Jesus Christ returns, you and I will suddenly find ourselves in His presence and therefore must consider all our life’s pursuits in light of this reality.
Does your lifestyle reflect your expectation of the Lord’s coming back for his Church?
