The Cock crows…and Simon Peter wakes up to the fact that in trying to save himself from people who were accusing him to be a follower of Jesus; he had denied Jesus Christ three times. Simon Peter wept bitterly as he repented. Earlier on, the Lord Jesus Christ had warned him saying, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers”. Luke 22:31-32. Like Simon Peter, we can never ever imagine that at any one time; we can find ourselves between a rock and a hard place; and find ourselves denying Jesus Christ not once; but ‘three’ times. However, the Lord God who knew what was coming Peter’s way; also knows what the enemy is devising against each one of us. The Lord Jesus Christ intercedes for you and I that we will not fail the test; instead be refined and strengthened through the test.
Jesus had come back to life and the disciples had seen him twice. One day, Simon Peter at a loss with himself said to the rest “I am going to fish”; and the others disciples of Jesus followed him. They labored the whole night at sea; but by break of morning…they did not have anything to show for their hard work. We see Simon Peter getting others to do what Jesus Christ had called him from. In the morning, Jesus Christ prepared for them a breakfast and none dared to ask him ‘who are you?’ Yes; they knew it was the Lord Jesus Christ and it must have been disquieting to be found doing what they were doing …it was a quiet breakfast. Thereafter, Jesus Christ after asked Peter three times…do you love me? [John 21]
In those disquieting moments when you realize you have strayed from the Lord God; the Lord Jesus Christ asks you ‘do you love me?’
