As a young child growing into adulthood, we all come to a realization that pain is the lot of mankind. However, there is a pain that comes one’s way, so overwhelmingly heartbreaking which makes one feel like they are in an orbit of darkness filled with pain…due to a loss of a loved one or something of value to them.
A friend has lost 4 of his siblings in a tragic car accident …it is an agonizing pain. Globally, in different parts of the world, we have seen hurricanes, earthquakes, wild fires, flooding … the loss of life and destruction of homes, businesses is heart wrenching.
In this unspeakable pain, it is only God who can hold a suffering person together as they walk through a ‘valley of pain’. I encourage you to take an intentional position of prayer for a person known to you who is down and suffering. For it is God alone who comforts and strengthens one to rise up from pain and not give into depression; and through your prayers a hurting soul is strengthened not to ‘look to the left or to the right’; but reach out and firmly hold onto God in their pain. It is God who takes us to the other side …the side of healing.
We have been called to ‘Pray without ceasing’…there is a reason behind this instruction. There is someone in your vicinity in need of your prayers… pray for someone and spread your net of prayers to include others not personally known to you.
1 Samuel 12:23 (Samuel speaking to Israel) “Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way.”
