Simon Peter told Jesus Christ that even when all others fall away, ‘I will NOT’. Jesus Christ responded, “today – yes, tonight – before the cock crows twice, you yourself will disown me three times”. This must have been beyond Peter’s comprehension…for in the past 3 years, Peter had walked very closely with Jesus Christ; he had grown to love Jesus Christ; he had seen the miracles of Jesus Christ.   Peter physically walked on water courtesy of the Lord Jesus Christ to whom he had asked ‘if it is you Lord… tell me to Come’.  Also, when the Lord Jesus Christ asked his disciples, who do you say I am? It is Simon Peter who without hesitation said you are the Son of God.  It was hard to imagine Peter disowning Christ Jesus; but he did.

Jesus Christ told Peter “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you Simon that your faith may not fail” Luke 22:31-32.  Indeed the Lord Jesus Christ is our greatest intercessor.  Although at the challenge of the devil, Peter denied knowing Christ; thereafter Peter was quick to repent, maintained his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and lived to fulfill his destiny.

Jesus Christ also prayed for all believers…that we will be one; that we will remain in God.  The Lord Jesus also prayed to God, “I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them”.John 17:26

In moments when we fail God, may we like Peter be quick to repent before God.  God is merciful and restores, enabling us to walk in the victory of Jesus Christ.

A Blessed Easter Season
