God asked Moses what he had in his hand and ‘Moses replied a Staff’. Then, God told him to throw it on the ground… “Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it.” God told Moses, ‘Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.’ (Exodus 4:2-4) In the normal way of things, you do not touch a snake by the tail, for it will immediately strike.

In the face of challenges or discomfort, we are tempted to handle issues our way or simply take the approach of Moses, who took off as soon as the staff became a snake. This kind of snake was going nowhere; and for it to become a harmless object again, Moses had to comply by picking up the snake by the tail as commanded by God. It took trust in God and courage for Moses to reach out and get the snake by the tail.

Have you been running away from ‘snakes’ in your life; praying over ‘snakes’ to turn into a ‘staff’? Reach out and touch the ‘snake by the tail’ as led by God, and like Moses, it’s only then that the ‘snake’ will become a harmless staff in your hand; and like Moses, you will see the greatness of God in your life.

Following God’s way, firms up one’s trust in God and instills within one a boldness to be greatly used by God.
