“If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied” 1 Corin.15:19. As a Christian, I have expectations. The best person to evaluate one’s walk with Christ is self; and the accurate mirror is the Word of God. So, I ask myself, what are my expectations as a Christian; and am I among those to be pitied in the eyes of God?
Many are of the understanding that since God is good, supreme, sovereign and Mighty; then for a Christian, all should be well in this land of the living. However, the world is still harvesting from the initial seed of disobedience by Adam and Eve. So, when we become Christians, the World does not become Heaven where only goodness of the Lord flows; evil still abounds and the enemy uses every opportunity to sting us with his arrows bringing pain, despair and destruction in our lives. Nonetheless, our faith in God should not weaken because the enemy is relentlessly stealing, killing and destroying. We are forewarned of his mission.
The tomb of Christ is empty; and we are assured about another kind of harvest. “The Fact is that Christ has been raised from the dead. He has become the first of a great harvest of those who will be raised to life again.” 1 Corin.15:20.
So, Child of God be enabled by the Spirit of God to arise and take your position in the Kingdom of God. Always remember that the ways of God are not our ways; so many times the workings of God in our lives will not be easy to comprehend. Our lifeline is complete Faith in God. The Word of God reassures us that “The eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” 2 Chronicles 16:9.
