Kim shared with a friend how blessed and content she felt with a loving family, a comfortable home and a new grandson. A few weeks later, she was diagnosed with leukemia and was told to begin chemotherapy. As she entered the hospital, she asked of the Lord Jesus to make His presence known to her. It was a trying moment.
How do you respond to trying moments? The New Testament warns, “Do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.” While suffering, we grieve and experience real pain; but we take comfort in God’s promise to “provide a way out so that you can endure whatever trial comes”.
As Kim underwent treatment in a hospital for 7 months, she quietly reflected on God’s goodness, love and perfect plan. Regardless of whether or not she would heal, she decided to fully trust God with her health situation.
In every season of suffering, we get to be tested and God ‘adds weight to the character of a believer’. Also we are assured of a “hope that does not put us to shame.”
