HE who was with no sin was killed and buried. Imagine the terror of the enemy those 3 days when Christ who is Holy stepped into the world of darkness to retrieve all that the enemy had stolen from man? Holiness is one of the many attributes of God which sets him apart as God; and in it there is Power, a kind of power the devil trembles at.
When I meditate upon Holiness, what comes to mind is light; thus equating Holiness to Light. Jesus said, “ I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” John 8:12. It is a fact that the existence of darkness ceases at the brilliance of Light. The Early Church understood this gift of Holiness and became the ‘Light of the World’ Mathew 5:14. It is because of their commitment to walk as the Light of the World that Authority and Power flowed from God through them to men who listened to the message of Christ and responded with commitment to follow and serve in the Kingdom of God… even in the face of persecution. Their ministry thrived, and the impact on their community overflowed to our generation.
The mantle is with you and I; however, if we are to be impactful in our community with the Message of Christ, fight a winning battle against the enemy and finally see HIS face and serve before HIM in Glory (Rev 22:4-4); then we need to give more than a glance to the teachings of Jesus Christ. As we pursue Holiness, we become truly the temple of the Living God and the Holy Spirit dwells within us. Without the Holy Spirit we are not able to live up to the Word of God such as “Be Holy, because I am Holy” 1 Peter:16; “All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure” 1 John 3:3; “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” Mathew 5:48 . However, when we submit our lives before God and allow HIS Spirit to dwell within us, we open our hearts to the offspring of love. The Love of God flows in our lives and springs through other people’s lives. It is then that in this World we will be like Jesus 1 John 4: 13-17.
Christian, Holiness, is power and when you recognize that it is a strong weapon against the adversary; then, it is not an option to live Holy; but a necessity to pursue Holiness.
“He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor” Proverbs 21:21.
