In these last days, there is need for us to be certain that our faith is not based on the goodness of mankind or religion; but on “ Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God”. Hebrews 12:2
The Lord says, “…..my righteous one will live by Faith…” Hebrew 10:38. So, if one has not comprehended the meaning of living by faith in God…. then how can one live by faith? How about one who through faith has tasted and seen the faithfulness of God; however because of a pressing issue(s) and the need to resolve it NOW… one shrinks from their faith in God to handle it in a manner that dishonors God …reasoning that after all I have prayed and prayed and God is not coming through! The Lord says that the righteous one who shrinks back to the ways of the world earns God’s displeasure and their end is destruction Hebrew 10:38.
In Hebrews 11 we are given various examples of the Righteous ones who lived by faith. When the Righteous lives by faith…their trust in God is tested to be proven. Abraham’s faith in God was tested in numerous ways, but he held onto his faith in God… even when he was told to sacrifice his only son…he held on firmly to God’s promises and followed through.
Abraham had faith in God and was one of the ancients who were commended for it Hebrews 11:1. Yes, we receive a key lesson about faith from Abraham…but have you developed a relationship with God to follow his example? When God instructs you to ‘leave the house with the Isaac and head to Mt. Moriah’ do you have faith in God to follow through? Or at a difficult task, you would quickly rebuke the devil reasoning that it cannot have been the voice of God? The mark of the righteous one …is their Faith in God; and ‘he hears the prayer of the righteous’. Proverbs 15:29
In our walk with God, our position should be “… we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved” Hebrew 10:39.
