‘My Father, My friend’ are sentiments normally used which illustrate one’s closeness to God.   However, man’s sincerity before God stands in question for while sweetness flows from one’s lips to God; one is living a lifestyle which is counter the standard of God.  Jeremiah had a message for the children of God.. “Have you not just called me: “My Father, my friend from my youth, will you always be angry?  Will your wrath continue forever?”  This is how you talk, but you do all the evil you can.’ Jeremiah 3:4-5    Where is the fear of God among his own?

The Fear of God is an attribute  you and I need to walk right before the LORD God.   The Psalmist says “Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the people of the world revere him.” (33:8).  As a people of God, we should have a deep need to honor God, have high respect and esteem God for who HE is, what HE has done and what HE continually does in one’s life.  In case that need is dwindling or absent in your heart…that is a prayer item to be lifted before God.

The God we serve “… spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.” Psalms 33:9…that is the God you and I acknowledge as God.  Therefore, let us purpose to Honor God in our words, thoughts and actions.

You and I face an ongoing battle to honor God through righteous living…a battle which begins from the mind. The word of God cautions us to be ‘alert and of a sober mind’; therefore keep a close watch on the ‘products’ generated from your thoughts, for when given a free reign …a person is marred.  ‘The works of evil are known even to a child’.

“…Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the LORD our God.” Jeremiah 42:6
