Your young one has something in their hands…on a closer look it is your priceless gem, immediately you throw him a caution… please handle it with care. However, he starts to play with it…playing catch which is throwing and grabbing it in midair. Could it be that he did not hear your caution or the entertainment outweighed the likely reprimands?
As one who professes to be a Christian, you are a Child of God who received the precious gift of Salvation. Like a bird that escaped from a fowler’s snare Psalms 124:7… so did you and I on receiving the gift of Salvation; and as Christians, God the Father has called us to be Holy as HE is Holy 1 Peter 1:16; to be perfect as the Heavenly Father is perfect Mathew 5:48.
This gift is available to all ….the blood of Jesus Christ was shed for all mankind…that in him we would be reunited back to God. Most of us are responding to the call of salvation; yet in the Word of God we are cautioned that only a few will be crowned and receive rewards in eternal life. Why? Could it be because of carelessly handling one’s gift? The LORD Says, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you , will try to enter and will not be able to.” Luke 13:24. This was in response to someone who asked the Lord whether it is only a few who will be saved (22).
I believe that the gnashing of teeth Luke 13:28 will be as a result of one fully knowing about Christ and God’s love; but still opts for the comfortable status of being a 50/50 Christian. In God’s Word, the Lord says…“ So, because you are lukewarm – neither hot nor cold – I am about to spit you out of my mouth” Revelation3: 15. In light of this, we need to constantly check the temperature of our walk with Christ to ascertain whether one is still Hot or tending towards Lukewarm with personal questions such as:- do my thoughts, my words, my decisions, my choices, actions …portray Christ in my life? Do I justify weaknesses in my life? Who influences me to live in a way that is contrary to God’s Word?
Yet again, some of us are very comfortable to enter Heaven alone! Although friends, relatives and colleagues do not know about the LORD Jesus Christ…we are embarrassed to share with them about the gift of salvation. Didn’t the LORD Jesus Christ say that “If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels” Mark 8:38. Have you ever thought through the implication of this statement?
We are in the last days; and just like a bride who is expectant to walk the aisle to meet her bridegroom constantly checks her bridal attire to ascertain that it is ready…clean with no stains or wrinkles; so should you and I keep a close watch on our ‘temperature’ with Christ Jesus; and pay heed to the Holy Spirit’s prompting to walk the upright way.
“Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father in Heaven.” Mathew 7:21
