In one bible study, one young man wondered, “how do I get to know God’s will?”   At one  point in time, every Christian has wondered, pondered or asked ‘how do I get to know the will of God for my life.  Our search for doing God’s will is key as a Christian for the Lord God says, “ Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother” Mathew 12:50…this speaks of a special relationship with God.

One author says that ‘doing God’s will begins when you have a vision of God and His purposes for your life and this all springs from one’s willingness to allow the Holy Spirit to teach one.  One acknowledging to self that God wants to teach you how he reveals His will and how one can do His will is a right direction as we search for the will of God’.

The Lord Jesus Christ is our example of what it means to live God’s will.  He told his disciples, “My food,’ is to do the will of him who sent me and finish his work” John 4:34.   Jesus sought God’s will while he was on earth and did not seek to do his own.  He was fully man and fully God and being fully man, would Jesus have chosen for friends and family to reject Him and for crowds to mock and scorn Him?  Jesus experienced those things because of his choice to live his Father’s perfect will, not because He wanted them.

The life of Jesus Christ brought honor and glory back to God and the name of God is praised.  As we regularly feed on God’s word and spend time with him in prayer; God continually reveals his will or mapping for our lives; and also gives us strength to do what he has purposed for us to do.
