Have you ever asked self why despite continuously reading the Word of God, we are failing to walk the refined life marked with righteous acts?  One person noted that while with a devotion and dedication we buy into the ‘world’; when it comes to ‘live the Word of God’…many become passive displaying a marked boredom and lack of interest… to our detriment as Christians.

2 Peter 1:10 says, “Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure.  For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”.  Yes, it is important for one to read the Word of God; however, Peter stresses on the doing it part; for if we fail to follow God’s teaching…we will be entangled; and fall.

What are the things Peter notes for a Christian to do?  Christians who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ of Nazareth; we have to purposefully ‘add goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and finally love to our faith in Christ Jesus. 2 Peter1:4-7

When we possess the highlighted qualities in increasing measure, it keeps one from being ineffective and unproductive 2 Peter 1:8 and instead become strong, firm and steadfast in one’s walk as a Christian; and be likened to “a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.  …..” Psalms 1:3

Christian let us have confidence in the Word of God for it empowers one to walk and live a victorious life as Christians.
