A prophesy was made about the 1st coming of the LORD Jesus Christ and in this prophesy it is said that he is the Chosen one whom God delights in and the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) will rest upon him.  Further description of the LORD Jesus Christ says that “ A bruised reed he will not break and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out…” Isaiah42:1 -3.

A ‘bruised reed’….could be a Christian who has been battered by circumstances; one no longer vigilant nor fervently searching for God … and others viewing this person would categorize such a person as a weak Christian who does not merit their attention.  But, the Lord Jesus Christ reaches out to this ‘bruised reed’…. as a shepherd searches for the sheep which strays from the flock bringing it back to the right path.  The LORD is the gentle and a caring shepherd.

A ‘smoldering wick’ could be a brother …a sister whose love…interest…fire for the LORD Jesus Christ is fast fading; but if the ‘LORD does not snuff it out’ ; then why should we do so fellow Christians?

The Lord Jesus Christ set a standard for his followers.  Do you regard yourself to be a strong standing Christian?  Then with love and compassion, reach out to the ‘bruised reed’…the ‘smoldering wick’.  Allow to be used by God to encourage those who are weak in their faith; as they grow…so will your roots deepen in Christ.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill law of Christ” Galatians 6:2
